Aditional Educational Experiences
I have met a lot of people in my life and through those connections I have had opportunities to gain educational, art, and work experience. Here are just a few examples of experience I have gained:
Educational: I have been given an opportunity to attend SPCC and ACEC to get my diploma and a free 2 year degree. As a community college, students do not have the fees that a regular university would require. I am incredibly grateful to have been able to meet all of the amazing teachers and professors and through them, I was able to become who I am today which I think is far above who I would be without them. If I had to go to a regular school for this amount of education, I feel like I would not have succeeded.
Artistic: I have been surrounded by artistic friends in school my entire life. I think these people helped me realize my own gifts in art and creativity. My church, New Home Baptist Church, had a competition for who could design the church logo. My design won over about 10 submissions and now my design is on cups, hats, and T-shirts. My Grandma who recently passed away was very artistic and very motivated to create whatever she had on her mind. I think after she passed away and we looked through her massive collection of creations, it inspired me to be more artistic, so I began painting on canvases for friends and family and some people even paid me to paint there house or their farms etc.
Work: I have had a few volunteer work opportunities and also an actual paid job as a strawberry picker. I have built an entire shop with my dad and his best friend. We also built two decks and a tree house together. As for the volunteer work, I helped at tractor supply for a couple hours when they had an event. As for the real job I had, I was a strawberry picker for Baucom farms about a year ago. I was paid by the hour at first then by the bucket once the strawberry season started picking up. I was able to know what it is like working in the fields and got to work with people who eventually became my great friends. I think the most valuable work experience I gained was that you should value every dollar you have because I earned every dollar I made and it did not come easy.
